- In the 1990s, viewers in the former
Soviet Union enjoyed a special week of TV programmes made by British
Thames TV - among them was Armand's JACK THE RIPPER
(1988).
- Jeremy Irons did a screen test together
with Antonio Banderas for the MAMBO KINGS (1992)...
- Kevin Kline was originally cast as bandleader
Cesar Castillo in the MAMBO KINGS (1992), but he dropped
out and then Armand was tested for the lead role - by that time, Antonio
Banderas had already been cast as Cesar's younger brother, Nestor Castillo.
- After his convincing performance as
a French gynaecologist in PRIVATE BENJAMIN (1980),
casting directors refused to believe Armand was American.
- In the 1980s, Armand's performance as
a Hungarian violinist in UNFAITHFULLY YOURS (1984)
reconfirmed his status among Hollywood actors as "too foreign".
- In October 1998, the Mexican channel
TV Azteca had been granted authorization to broadcast ETERNIDAD aka
ETERNITY (1989) over a period of 42 months - so Armand
appeared on Mexican TV, too!
- When Armand prepared for his award-winning
role of GOTTI (1996), he talked with Gotti's lawyers,
met some of the Don's friends and did other in-depth research on the
subject.
- Armand was cast as "Jonathan Kail"
in a now defunct internet game called Chivalry III:A New Beginning.
- The writer Oscar Hijuelos who won the
Pulitzer Prize for his novel The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love
is said to be pleased with the choice of Armand as Cesar Castillo in
the MAMBO KINGS (1992).
